Hollis Mackintosh Heid (Director)
Ballet, Pointe, Partnering, Pilates

Hollis Mackintosh Heid (NPD Director) began her training with Delia Foley, A.R.A.D. at Ballet Arts in Clarks Mills, NY. She attended Butler University, performing lead roles with Butler Ballet and the Indianapolis Opera before graduating in 2002 with a B.F.A. in Dance Performance and Arts Administration. While at Butler, she danced with the Chamber Dance Project in NYC and Georgia National Ballet in Tblisi, Republic of Georgia. Following graduation, she joined Louisville Ballet as a company member and the faculty of the Louisville Ballet School as the Outreach Coordinator. She has performed with Cincinnati Ballet, Augusta Ballet and Northern Plains Ballet dancing roles in works by Fredrick Franklin, Lars Lubovitch, Peter Powlus, Merce Cunningham, Andre Prokovsky, Val Caniparoli, Ron Cunningham, and George Balanchine. As Director of Northern Plains Dance, she has choreographed eight original dance pieces for Choreographers’ Showcase and Dance+, restaged Act II of Paquita, Swan Lake, and Giselle, and overseen eight performances of The Nutcracker and eight spring productions. Ms. Mackintosh Heid is proud to have the opportunity to celebrate her 10th anniversary season as Director of Northern Plains Dance. 

Mackenzie Schmaltz (Marketing Manager)

Mackenzie has been the Marketing Manager at Northern Plains Dance since January of 2010. A graduate of the University of North Dakota, Mackenzie took a job at the North Dakota Department of Agriculture and found her passion for marketing. Although not a dancer herself, Mackenzie is a lifelong lover of the arts, having been a member of UND’s Concert Choir for 4 years along with various other choral and instrumental groups in the cities of Bismarck, Grand Forks and Bottineau. As the Marketing Manager, Mackenzie enjoys sharing Northern Plains Dance’s activities with the Bismarck/Mandan community.
Katherine Adams (Education Coordinator)
Ballet, Hip Hop, Modern, Jazz

Born and raised surrounded by mountains in the San Luis Valley near Monte Vista, Colorado, Katherine Adams began her dance training under the direction of a former Radio City Ballet performer, Beverly Mozzetti. Her experience and training there led her to the University of Wyoming where she has recently received her BFA in Dance Performance with a Minor in Business. During her college career, she has performed in numerous pieces including D-Man in the Waters set by the Bill T. Jones /Arnie Zane Company, Ride the Culture Loop and Nutcracker. She also attended the annual summer dance programs and choreographed for student and senior productions. Katherine has trained in aerial dance, and spent four months in London taking dance classes while observing the British culture. In her final year at UW, she was Vice President and Treasurer of the Associated Students of the Performing Arts and worked with choreographing for a production using dance and camera projection.
Jamie Arnold
Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical

Jamie is a performing artist, dance and yoga educator from Rhode Island with ten years of experience in creative business. She has extensive teaching experience leading a variety of movement classes and has worked with talent of all age ranges from children to adults. Jamie has been fortunate to share her dance knowledge with such organizations as AS220, Chance to Dance, Festival Ballet, Trinity Repertory School, Dean College, the Lincoln School and Hendricken High School. She has danced with Aerplaye Dance Company, Ali Kenner Brodsky & co., Betsy Miller Dance Projects and many more independent choreographers from the New England area. Jamie is happy to be a part of the community at Northern Plains Dance.

Caitlin Knowles (School Administrator)
Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, Modern, Ballet

Caitlin Knowles graduated from Montclair State University with a BFA in Dance and Theater. After graduation she performed professionally with Marked Dance Projects and performed her own aerial silk work and original choreography. Ms. Knowles has worked within dance programs for special needs children and adults.  She has taught children ages 2-adult at studios and schools throughout the past 8 years. She has performed works by José Limòn, Bill T. Jones, Doug Varone, Christian von Howard, Nancy Lushington, and Jessie DiMauro and has the pleasure of dancing at The Joyce Theater, The 92nd Y, and The Actors Fund Arts Center in New York. Ms. Knowles is excited to share her passion for learning and dance.
